Warmth of snood scarf.

Anna is the biggest fan of snood scarfs, once she decided to make colorful and warm scarfs for herself and for her FOR YOU project. That's how it looks like!

All variations of scarfs look like this. But every time Anna is trying to draw and sew new combinations!

Scarf costs 36 euro, in case you are interested, you could write to Anna.

FOR YOU? / What is FOR YOU?

FOR YOU - для тебя.
Wish to touch drawings became a business of textile printing and sewing of some cute and warm pillows and characters. FOR YOU - means literally the same: positive emotions for those who buys for themselves, for those who buy to make a present for their beloved ones. For everyone who is ready to let the love and happiness come into his heart.

Interior pillows
Theme toys
Huge lovely foxes with the height of grown-ups and cildresn
Horses on sticks for kids and adults
Statement pillow to say what you forget to say
Theme pillows "My favorite city"
Travel foxes-companions

This is just the beginning, more prints, objects and ideas are to be born and to be executed. Always in source of inspiration and ideation!

Design for all (adaptation for visually impaired people)

Hey, all!

It has been a lot of time, since I written a word here.
But may be it was just too intense.
Want to tell you some updated on our project of adaptation of Karelian State Philharmonic Hall for needs of visually impaired people "In ACCORDance with a human".
Want to remind that we made a deep analysis of the Philharmonic hall in Petrozavodsk city with the help our 3 visually impaired guides and the dog, we gave different solutions around several spheres:

  • physical accessibility
  • informational availability
  • objects
  • navigation

Here is a small overview for you in our short video, where you also can see them in 3D video tour.

Inventors and Artisans

Makers seems to fall into one of 2 camps. Some people are idea generators, trying out different things, even if they seem a little crazy.

INVENTORS

  • Restlessly searching for the new, sometimes for the sake of newness.
  • Like to solve problems, large and small.
  • Make intersting, intuitive leaps as they try to discover answers
  • (Leaps can be risky but also lead to rewards).
ARTISANS
  • Take to one particular skill or subject and spend their life refining and exploring until it shines like a diamond.
  • Practising to make their business perfect.
  • Trying to fill in gaps of those the don't know.
  • Believe journey is the destination.
  • Think of the best, fast, efficient way.

Of course person doesn't belong to one or another group. But that the way of thinking people might have in generalization. Did u think which camp is closer to you?
Thanks to RENA TOM for sharing and food for thought.

Hands On - Hand Made (vol.1)

It has been a long time, since I didn't write anything in my blog.
It was very tiring and intensive period with a lot of work, ideas, people and emotions. Till now I was feeling kind of empty. But now I am ready to share.
Me and my friend Stepan Belyakov (www.styoupa.ru) started TV career. We were authors, creators and TV-presentors of a show called "Ideas for the House" [later I will write a separate post about this satellite TV channel, but now I want to show you those things we were able to make with our own hands and to explain the idea and process to people].
My favorite topic is Cardboard
Great Recyclable Material. Popular among Dutch designers. People throw out thousand of tons of cardboard everyday.
So we went around many of junk yards in the center of the city, searching for broken chairs, cardboard material, and other objects.
And we created a futuristic chair for garden, living room or terrace. And a coffee table.
Coffee table has rather simple but stable construction. To create this chair we collected more that 75 pieces of packing dual-layer, tree-layer and four-layer cardboard material, 3-4 liters of glue and something like 5 days of cutting and glueing. It was difficult. But the result is exciting.
Enjoy!

Magna Cosma design job is finished!

I am satisfied with those job we did together with girls from HR department of "Magna Cosma" factory here in St.Petersburg. Personally, I am fan machines, vehicles, automotive production, etc. But first of all I am fan of those brain, who created all those machine and who made them alive. And for sure I like the productive line of this factory. Cause robots now are able to do a lot of things.
Recently, we have finished internal communications campaign. The main goals of visual parts were:

  • to introduce new concept of fairness committee to workers,
  • to deliver benefits  and tasks to them
  • and to have them prepared to make a decision when electing this committee.

So, mostly those posters and brochure are made of information. They are formal and almost not emotional. They are aimed to make people also proud of their work place. Their work place is taking care of them, and company wants to have civil society inside workplace with people "who care".
There is a logo of fairness committee. Colors of materials are colors of Magna brand (dark grey and bloody red).
Here are works. Hope, you will like them!

Emotional Intelligence of Color

Many times ago, I found research of one graphic designer from Ireland Orlagh O'Brien about somatic experience of emotion and feeling and I want to share it with you, also adding some of my thoughts about color and their emotional intelligence and role in our life. I believe, it will be a long trip and it will not finish with tis post.
More information you can find on a web-page Emotionally Vague.
How do people feel anger, sadness, love, fear or joy?
There were 250 participant in the survey, which Orglagh made. And there are interesting results.
First of all, there were identified the color scheme of emotions. There are main and additional colors, which  people associated with every emotion.
Orlagh also identified which kind of "essences" cause several emotions. For example Joy is associated mostly with friends, music, sunshine, family, sea, etc. Anger with injustice, rudness, betrayal, etc. Sadness with death, suffering, thinking of war, etc. Love with friends, people, love, boyfriend, etc.
Moreover, it was defined where does each emotion concentrate in our body
Love is spreading all around the body, with concentration around heart.
Fear is concentrated a lot in head and stomach and it is getting you feeling of being "squared".
Sadness is concentrated around heart, and gives a feeling that something is pushing you from upstairs.
Anger is concentrated in head and hands, and it feels like head is blowing up.
More about this research you can find in this video, where Orlagh is making a presentation.

In yoga every chakra also is associated with certain thing, emotion and color. As far as I remember, fear is concentrated in stomach, in second chakra, the same we can see in this research. About chakras I will write later, when I make interview with some of my favorite yoginas.
Another thing, I wanted to tell you about is one particular tool from Adobe company, which is called Adobe Kuler. You can use it, if you want to choose color for some of your graphic design. First, you need to think, which kind of emotions you want your stakeholder to have, and then write down a word in this on-line app and you will receive suitable kit of 5 colors, which are reflecting your emotion. I think it is very smart thing, and worth using.  Just try and you will like it!
Preparing this post I got this kind of color scheme for Emotional Intelligence
How can I use it?
There are a lot of things, but first of all this kind of research helps me to understand what should I do, which kind of products to make in order to create certain emotions in the head of my stakeholders (friends, customers, etc). If I want to get some joyful emotional state from my stakeholders  probably I shouldn't use red+black in my creatures, but better yellow and blue. I understood which kind of images may influence people to have certain behavior (like if you see group of friends in the picture, you possibly can move to "love+joyfull" mood, and this kind of mood can be cool, if I am making a web-design oriented on youth.
Anyway, if you have any thought about emotional intelligence of the color, and comments or relevant links, I would be happy to have any feedback!
Have a good and colorful mood!

RE-BAG (Recycling+Reusing+Reducing)

Bom dia, gente!
Welcome you to my new experiment, connected with recycling and reusing of plastic bags! In my first bag I used 4 other plastic bags, and the heat of an iron.
I have some new ideas of design of upcoming reused plastic bags, and here is my small manifesto, which I also would like to share with you!
I also have an idea to create a fabric bag, which is gonna promote more eco-responsible style of life.
Here is a drawing! The title will change, and I will add some slogan.

"Do You Use QR-codes?" or "20 more ways of using QR-codes!"

Personally I got to know about QR-codes last year during AIESEC Global Communication Crew meeting, from Igor Rodrigues (If I don't mess anything). Now I see those QR-codes everywhere and personally use this simple method of coding and decoding, which, by the way, appeared in 1994 in Japan.
Small intro: QR-code is specific matrix two-dimensional barcode, readable with specific barcode readers and cameras of contemporary mobile phones. The information encoded can be URL or any other data.
Some month ago I used this "technology" to make a present for my friend, who got married. I made a t-shirt with "Just married" back and and encoded wishes for bride and groom in the front of t-shirts(1). They look very nice on this pic!

But now I discovered some more ways, how people use QR-codes and I also I find that it is a kind of fun to use them! And I think, that this info will be interesting for you too! Enjoy!

1) Postcards, t-shirts and other gifts with encoded secret message or wish

2) Discounts : you may scan the QR-code and receive a discount in some shop

3) Music/podcasts/video download links

5) Shorten URL : useful in advertising to attract people to use your web-page
6) Logo rebranding with encrypted URL or other info
7) Invite in Facebook or other social network

8) Watch

9) Tourism : Google map link. I heard this was used very well in Ukraine /Lviv. Imagine you are a tourist and you like a place you are visiting, but you don't understand Cyrillic alphabet, and you don't know what is this place. You can scan a barcode and got to know all needed touristic information about the place!
10) Tissot "Scan to Win" campaign : you can participate in lottery to win expensive Swiss watch. You scan, register and participate.

11) Tickets : via sms you can receive a QR-code which will be your train or plane ticket

12) Japan visa

13) Business card info

14) Good's barcode : everything you buy has a barcode. Some goods have QR-codes as a type of barcode.
15) Tatoos

16) Close/ accessories design

17) Building design+advertising

There is a futuristic design project in the UAE

18) Cemetery : the most inspiring way of using! Instead of writing the name of a relative or friend, Japanese people use QR-code, where they put all needed data about the dead person. Probably, that's very useful for cemetery administration and future generations.

19) Psychogeography : this was a movement appeared in mid-50s called 'Yellow Arrows', they marked spaces with yellow arrows, to show their attitude and it was a kind of fun. Everyone has his own idea about some sightseeing object, building or any place in a city. And everyone may write some message, opinion or story connected with that object  and put QR-code label on it. Then, when you travel you may find this code and scan it with your mobile phone to know some new, may be tricky or  funny facts about those place. It is like "AnnA was here".

20) Semapedia : is connected with psychogeorgaphy. You can create your own barcode and connect a place or any object with an article in wikipedia. It can be almost everything! When Berlin's municipality organized a psycho-geo-flash mob in the city, in the metro they promoted a web-page, where every user could choose an object and write his own idea about it, using a QR-code. You can connect virtual and physical world and www.semapedia.org by your own!
Generally western people use QR-codes and other ways of simple cryptography in advertising, web-pages, posters, billboards, in newspapers and magazing, on TV and internet, but eastern people found some more funny and practical ways of using them. For me, that was an inspiring journey!

I found also some resources where you can create your own colorful QR-codes:

My woolen trees

Sometime ago I found a new hobby. In winter, where everything is in different colors of white specter, where there is no green grass and green trees, I wanted to bring so more colors and may be even to create a beautiful forest.
I started with colorful balls of wool, and sleeping trees.
Here there are my trees, which can be not just good decoration of the house, but also decorations for my further ideas.
